THE SCULPTURES BY SYLWESTER AMBROZIAK

Jarosław Świerszcz: (…) Sylwester Ambroziak has undertaken an effort, or a toil, to carve out a new man resembling his creator , though at the same time different from him, from us. Being an artist, Ambroziak has presented his Golem in museums and galleries.
From the very beginning, these figures were ready to be displayed in public. One has not seen the astonished characters, terrified with the fact that they have been among us. They have been strong, though different, varying. So graceful to be described. Huge, enormous, taller than all of us; as any new barbarian people, they are fascinating with their strength and differences; determined to strive for approval . Delicate, fragile inside, tender, angry, naive in spite of being aware of everything. Noble in their ugliness, attempting with pride to hold up their huge heads.

(…) Young men and young women. The ugly – beautiful creatures. Their maker has written into his characters the long history of human needs, fears, dreams, hopes. He has made them longing and awaiting fulfillment. These sculptures feel well being alone.
